Product Overview
The 1869 Caboose Potbelly Stove is reminiscent of the potbelly stoves seen in the train stations and cabooses of yesteryear. This high performance potbelly stove is constructed of all cast iron and is designed to burn coal. Its generous firepot capacity with shaker grate allows 40 lbs. of coal to burn for eight hours before requiring refueling. Separate ash door with slide draft control at bottom creates a “forge effect” that ensures proper combustion. Long flared top with 8″ lift out lid facilitates fry pan or tea kettle. Stove comes assembled except for legs.

The only thing I wasn’t real happy with was that the stove was not air tight the fire box was somewhat small but it worked very well
Cast iron is very low quality with no quality control. Shaker grate doesn't work at all. Using it will cause all your coals to fall out. Loading hatch courners are jagged with missing chunks of metal, hardware falling off heater top half of heater. Took me an hour to locate the missing nut. Both loose on either side
NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE
Coal is the way to go. I am buying coal $4.50 for 40 pounds
much less expensive than wood
just have to get a small fire started through in some coal
let that coal get started and add more coal and you are staying warm for a long time

Great product at a great price
I bought a potbelly stove to heat my house. I like the look and it fits the overall decore. To my surprise this is the best functioning stove I’ve ever seen. If you want to start a fire, this is by far the easiest stove to get going and by far the easiest stove to load. Leave it to the old timers to design something that actually works.
The product is decent quality. I'm not crazy about it being made in China. Americans should not be buying China products at all.
I purchased two stoves ... one is damaged due to shipping. I think I should feel a little better than I do.
