Product Overview
The South Bend SB1126 is a heavy-duty variable-speed wood lathe built for serious turning work in home and professional shops. With an 18-inch swing over the bed and up to 40 inches between centers with the bed extension, it is designed to handle everything from spindle projects to larger bowl and faceplate turning.
A 3 HP motor and variable frequency drive deliver smooth, high-torque performance from 50 to 3200 RPM, with two speed ranges and a digital readout for easy adjustment. Forward and reverse spindle controls, 10-degree spindle indexing, and faceplates on both ends of the spindle give you more control for shaping, sanding, and detailed positioning.
The cast-iron bed, extension, and tool rest provide the mass and stability needed for cleaner cuts and reduced vibration. An auxiliary outboard bed expands bowl-turning capacity, making this lathe a strong choice for experienced woodworkers who want versatility, power, and precise speed control in one machine.
