It definitely helps with the ramp Amp start, and also the compressor extended life.

Have not got WiFi to work.

Went fron 90 amps to 31 to start my 5 ton beasts. The install kits while not useless, they are lacking wago connectors. One doesnt get it.

I purchased a Micro Air Easystart Soft Starter for my two A/C units through FactoryPure in April 2025. I have two Goodman A/C units, a GSX160361FF and a GSX160481FH. These are upstairs and downstairs units (2 story house). Since I am an electrician, wiring was not an issue. This was recommended to me when I have my bi-yearly A/C and heater checkup, however, the quote came in really high. The biggest issue I had was relocating the components within the A/C unit (relay and capacitor) in order for the unit to fit inside. I only took 15 to 20 minutes to hook it up once you have everything moved so it will fit. It took me a couple of hours to relocate the items on the first A/C unit. Once I knew what to do, it took me less than an hour to make room in my other A/C unit. I was very careful drilling into the unit. I used a Dremel tool to make the cut for the capacitor band. (small cutoff wheel). Once installed it signifyingly cut down both the startup noise and the peak power surges. My peak current on the larger unit is in the 30 to 40 amp range, down from over 100. Most people install these Soft Starters in order to power their home on a generator, this was not my reason, as I had already own a whole house generator. My reason was to reduce my electric peak power and reduce noise.
