“The Simplicity Hi-Fidelity hearing aid is a professional hearing aid manufactured in the United States under FDA standards often retailing for $2,000 each. Specifically designed for musicians, the Simplicity Hi-Fidelity is an ANALOG hearing aid with NO feedback management. Many musicians prefer the sound of analog over digital because of the lack of signal processing. The cost savings is the result of a product that offers the same components as professional devices , but does not include custom programming and other professional fees. While building custom hearing aids and reviewing thousands of hearing tests since 1985, we have been able to develop a standard sound shape for an average mild-to-moderate high frequency hearing loss. This device is not intended for people with a severe loss. These hearing aids offer significant BENEFIT by providing high fidelity sound amplification; however, they have minimal COST.

Simplicity Hi-Fidelity hearing aid was designed by musicians for musicians. It provides optimum sound quality in everyday listening situations by eliminating typical sound limiting filters. Hear or play music without input-signal clipping. Instead of an overwhelming sense of loudness or amplification, daily sounds (or new sounds) will come through with a clarity you probably haven't heard for a long time. With a smooth, undistorted output and a frequency range of 100Hz to 10 KHz., the Hi-Fi delivers the high frequency consonant sounds along with all of the harmonics that give music its characteristic color. The wide dynamic range compression system separates incoming sounds, into low-pitched and high-pitched sounds. Bass and treble are adjusted automatically and continuously. The sound processing makes soft sounds easier to hear and maintains loud sounds at comfortable levels. The result is pure, clear sound reproduction.

The wide bandwidth eliminates “tinny” sound quality while providing clearer speech sounds, superior sound quality and the highest fidelity possible.The specialty design protects the sound circuit from very intense sounds that can cause unpleasant distortion. Equipped with a special built-in sensor that detects and amplifies only quiet sounds; The Simplicity Hi Fidelity is acoustically transparent for loud sounds. These sounds are not amplified so you hear them as you would without wearing a hearing aid.

1. Can the Simply Soft or Simplicity hearing aids be programmed to my hearing loss?

The instruments have four memories that are pre-programmed at the manufacturing facility by an Audiologist using a very large database of audiological experience so as to provide amplification for a typical mild-to-moderate hearing loss to be used in a wide range of listening environments. They cannot be reprogrammed to a specific hearing loss by a local audiologist.

2. Can I try a hearing aid for one ear now and purchase another one later for the opposite ear?

Yes, some do. However, customer satisfaction surveys strongly indicate that wearing instruments in both ears results in greater satisfaction. Wearing two instruments helps you to identify the direction of the sound (localization) and allows you to operate at a lower volume level reducing the likeliness of fatigue.

3. If I had surgery would your product be appropriate?

Any individual who has undergone ear surgery or any medically related hearing problem requires the expertise and proper support of an Audiologist and/or Ear Nose and Throat Physician.

4. What is the difference between the Simplicity (Over the Ear, Micro Poly Tube) and Simply Soft (In the Ear) products?

The Simplicity Smart Touch is the more popular and successful product. The Simplicity OTE product is very reliable because the Micro-poly tubing can be easily cleaned for earwax or changed. It is designed for mild-to-moderate sloping high frequency hearing loss; the most common loss in the entry-level market. The Simply Soft is designed to deliver a flatter frequency response, which delivers more amplification in the low to mid frequencies than Simplicity OTE design. Because the Simply Soft fits completely in the canal, the design has the potential of collecting earwax in the receiver tubing. However, the No-Wax system, with its simple filter-replacement, successfully circumvents this as a problem.

5. How long do the batteries last?

For the Simplicity and SimplySoft Smart-Touch hearing systems, the batteries will typically last approximately 7 days-10 days, depending on the number of hours per day the unit is worn, the volume level at which it is worn and the listening environments encountered.

6. What setting should I wear my hearing aids?

Most wear the devices on a level 2 or 3, set it in the morning and forget it. Don't hesitate to turn it down if the world is too loud. You're looking for clarity of sound, not loudness. Remember, give yourself time to adjust to wearing hearing aids. Listen through the hearing aids not TO the hearing aids. We are re-teaching our brains to hear sounds we haven't heard in a long time.

7. How do I know if these hearing aids will work for me?

The hearing aids are pre-programmed to fit mild-to-moderate hearing loss. The Simplicity is especially great for high frequency hearing loss.

8. Why are these devices so inexpensive?

General Hearing Instruments, Inc has manufactured these hearing devices for the audiological professional across the nation; the parts are identical. The quality control system and manufacturing of the product is also the same. We are able to provide significant savings because there is no custom ear mold required, no custom programming, no audiological workup produced or counseling involved, and there is no identification of a specific hearing loss.

9. If have a moderately severe, severe, or even a profound hearing loss, will these devices work for me?

No, unfortunately these instruments will not work for you. The type of loss you have requires specific programming, counseling and help of an Audiologist.

10. Can I send you a copy of my audiogram and have you program these hearing aids for my hearing loss?

No. All devices are preprogrammed for a typical mild-to-moderate, high frequency or flat hearing loss. We believe that custom programming of instrumentation is the domain of the hearing health professional.

How do I change the tube?

With the hearing aid in one hand, grab the bottom base of the micro poly tube, and turn the tube 90 degrees. Gently twist back and forth and the tube will unlock with no resistance. For more detailed instructions refer to the instructional DVD that was shipped in your package.

Can I cut the retention strap on the Simplicity OTE aids?

Yes, we recommend that the wearer adjusts the length of the retention strap to provide the most comfortable and secure fit.

Can I wear glasses with the Simplicity over-the-ear hearing aids?

Yes, glasses do not interfere with the performance, cosmetics or feel of the devices.
