Generac 8000EFI

My factory refurbished 8000EFI came with no visual defects and 4 hours on the meter. However, it would not start. the EFI model will not start with the pull starter unless the battery has sufficient voltage. After 24 hours on the factory supplied trickle charger the unit would not start. Factory Pure finally got me a battery three weeks later and the unit will now start on its own. The factory battery is a VERY small 9AH battery similar to what you would see for a deer feeder. Bad design, with no automatic charging of the battery from the unit itself. A bigger battery and self charging would be a much needed upgrade from Generac.

Xt8000 8000 running/10000 starting watts

Went boon docking at the river in Republican city Nebraska. Started the Generac generator that I installed it in my 1996 Newmar Dutch star camper ( yes I did adapt the onan exhaust and header wrap to the muffler and tail pipe to the Generac and added a cooling fan in the nose of the coach ) for 80 hrs running the hole coach . It ran 2 15000 btu a/c and what ever else we need on . Never skipped a beet. The generator averaged about 1/2 gallon of gas an hr. It does have the idle up switch on it. I’m glad it worked great cheaper than a onan 8000 watt generator plus I have single phase 220 v not 110 v . So yep I would give it five stars plus two more 😀😀😀😀

The generator I got had 115 hours on it, so don't believe them when they say the generators don't have many hours on them!!

nice machine with some problems'

first off, the assembly was easy, had a defect in tire but not Bad, added some more hardware to strengthen at different points, like handle, had to repaint bottom rails, chafing in box, no foam or cardboard, just laid in box, took the paint off bottom . has no fuel shut off for storage so I added one. Next the battery, when connecting saw a spark, has a power drain on battery, even with key out? to remedy problem, had to add a boat battery shut off, and make new cables. one more thing, the fault light? keeps coming on, why? haven't figured it out as yet, takes several starts to keep unit running? not Shure if co detector is still an issue they have not fixed yet, was checked and serviced by factory before shipping to me? for the most part happy with machine, just worried its going to fail when i need it, keeping my old one as back up for now, electric start is very good, will be a plus in cold .weather starts, i will keep a spare battery on hand, or a jump pack.. I plan on adding the propane conversion kit to it, maybe less c.o. will help censor? next step i think, will be a way to bypass c.o. detector malfunction? cant tell as yet if low oil shut off is the problem ,or the c.o. or something totally different. will keep you posted to my findings after first outage
